Elements of Plot
Plot: series of related events moving from problem to a solution
Exposition: presents the characters and the situation, including the conflict
Conflict: a struggle between opposing forces
Climax: the turning point of the conflict
Complication: events that stand in the way of resolving the conflict
Resolution: shows how the problem is worked out
Chronological order: events appear in the sequence in which they actually happen
Flashback sequence: sequence of telling the story in which you know the ending right away
Foreshadowing: Use of hints or clues about what is going to happen
